Woven jacquard vs. knitted scarves
Both are custom scarves with your brand on them. The right one depends on how much detail you need and how much warmth the job calls for.
The short answer
Choose woven jacquard if you have a crest, lettering or a stripe sequence that needs to stay crisp. Choose a knitted scarf if the job is warmth and texture and your branding is a simple wordmark or stripe.
Customized Scarves makes both from a minimum of 12 scarves, with a free mockup within 24 hours and standard production in about 2 weeks.
Side by side
| Woven jacquard | Knitted | |
|---|---|---|
| How it is made | Woven on a loom: every colour in the design is a thread, so the artwork is the cloth | Knitted: soft, thick and textured, with branding added by embroidery or a woven label |
| Fine detail and crests | Crisp lettering at reading distance; we redraw your crest for the loom | Knit texture swallows fine detail, so a simplified mark works best |
| Both faces | Both faces finished, no wrong side | Texture on both sides; branding sits on the knit surface |
| Warmth | Made for the look; not the warmest option | Made for warmth and texture |
| Branding options | Colour woven into the cloth | Clean embroidered wordmark, woven hem label or colour-blocked stripe |
| Proof before production | Woven proof standard, not a screen mock | Free mockup within 24 hours |
| Best for | Clubs, schools, supporters and brands that want a graphic nobody can peel off | Winter markets, outdoor crews, staff and gift sets |
| Minimum order and turnaround | 12 scarves; about 2 weeks | 12 scarves; about 2 weeks |
Detail and crests
A jacquard scarf is not printed, it is woven. Every colour in your design is a thread and the reverse shows the same design, finished. That is why supporter scarves have looked the way they do for a century: lettering stays crisp at reading distance and blocks of colour stay solid in rain and sun.
Knit works the other way round. Texture eats fine detail, so we will talk you out of embroidering a detailed crest into chunky knit. If the full crest matters, the woven jacquard scarf is the product that does it justice.
Warmth and wear
Sometimes the job really is warmth: winter markets, outdoor staff, ski trips and gift sets. The winter knit scarf is that product, soft, thick and textured. Yarn is stated plainly for every option, with how it washes.
A woven scarf is made for the look and the long life of the graphic, so for genuinely cold work a knit is the honest choice.
Branding and finish
Woven scarves carry the artwork in the cloth itself, so there is nothing to peel or wash off. Knitted scarves take restrained branding: a clean embroidered wordmark, a woven label at the hem or a colour-blocked stripe. Fringe is a finish choice on both, traditional on supporter scarves and clean hems for corporate work.
Which one for which buyer
Clubs and supporters: woven jacquard, with the crest in thread. See team and supporter scarves.
Schools and colleges: woven jacquard for the stripe that photographs sharp. See school and club scarves.
Winter merch and outdoor crews: a knit, paired with a beanie in the same colourway if you like.
Not sure between woven and printed?
Printed scarves are a third route. Our guide to woven or printed scarves covers that decision, and the fabric guide covers silk, polyester, acrylic and wool.
The verdict
Crest, lettering or a precise stripe: woven jacquard.
Warmth and texture with simple branding: knitted.
